Testing, Testing
DUSK SHOWCASE - A Little BETA this, A Little BETA that.
Over the past month, I’ve been running closed BETA sessions for DUSK, with fellow members of the lighting industry, from design consultants, manufacturers and even the LIA. Through each session, we have identified small bugs & hitches to be fixed, additional features and UI enhancements that will improve the user experience, and pushed the visualiser’s capabilities with surprising results.
Ultimately its proved to be the best move.
Not only can DUSK convert daytime photographs to illuminated night scenes, through testing it can also do the same for architect renderings, 3D model screengrabs, Google Map Streetviews and most incredibly, even photos of glorified napkin sketches!

The overall response to the BETA sessions has been incredibly positive.
Below are a few words from some of the test members.
“Communicating emotion through artificial imagery is never straightforward in our profession. Yet this visual moment is often the most powerful part of the design process. Traditionally, it has been highly time-consuming, leaving designers reliant on less efficient and refined visual languages. Dusk AI bridges this gap by providing the kind of intelligent, intuitive support lighting designers need to effectively portray their ideas.”
Chiara Amoruso, Lighting Designer.
“What surprised me most was how enjoyable the process became. DUSK AI transformed my evening design sessions into something I genuinely looked forward to, a rare quality in professional software. It’s both a powerful tool and an inspiring creative companion. The tool has become an invaluable part of my design process.”
Alexandra Maier, Architect.
I would definitely recommend DUSK to others. I can see benefits to it. I think I would love it as a learning aid too. It gives people a chance to learn how their projects’ lighting could look conceptually, for us to then teach them how to achieve it in reality.
Dan Griffiths, Lighting Applications Educator & Standards Developer, LIA.
This is more than I could hope for when starting these sessions. It validates DUSK as a creative aid in the initial design process.
It also proves that when AI is presented in an approachable, intuitive manner and serves a defined, USEFUL purpose without taking away direct control or influence, people are more likely to see it as a positive, than a negative.
I’m currently making some further updates to the web app, tidying up a few elements from the last session's feedback, before preparing for Session 4 which will be announced soon.
